Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  I don't have a vintage/retro dress, can I still do Pinup??

A:  Yes!  If you have a modern style dress, you can make it vintage/retro by doing the proper hair and makeup, and maybe use an accessory, such as a belt, retro glasses, etc.

Q:  I don't do dresses.  Not my style

A:  A Pinup girl doesn't have to wear a dress!  You can do a casual style, such as jean shorts, jeans (rolled up around ankles, or not, your choice!), plaid shirts, blouses with slacks.  Wander around a vintage or used clothing store, check out Pinterest.com or do an internet search for casual styles as well

Q:  Do I need a garter belt/thigh highs?

A:  It depends on the style you want to go for.  Classic Pinups usually had stockings and

garter belts, and you can get thigh highs that are stay-up and don't require a garter belt.

But if you don't like wearing them, or don't want to buy any, it's not a requirement to

have them.

Q:  Do I need high heels?

A:  Your personal style can apply here, but we highly encourage high heels of some sort.

Most of the classic Pinups wore heels, and they really help accentuate the legs and

thigh area, and are just classy.  If you don't own a pair, consider borrowing from

someone who is your size and that somewhat matches your look/outfit.  They don't

have to be stiletto style either, you can easily go with a wider heel/platform.

Q:  I don't know how to pose.

A:  That's what we are here for!  As a Photographer, its our job to pose clients

properly and make them feel comfortable.  But you can practice at home

before your session, in front of a mirror. A lot of Pinup poses can be

'exaggerated', so practice those S Curve poses, or that flirty foot kick!

Q:  If you don't provide hair/makeup, where can I get it done?

A:  At this time we simply cannot offer these services, however you can either go to a

salon near you and request a vintage/1940/1950s style, or if you prefer to do your own

makeup, there is a wealth of tutorials and ideas on YouTube, Pinterest, etc.
